Program Description

The Empower Abilities Life Skills Program is a highly effective initiative that focuses on developing and enhancing the life skills of individuals with disabilities. This program has been designed to equip participants with the tools they need to achieve greater independence and success in their personal and professional lives. The program is structured to provide a comprehensive range of life skills training, including communication skills, problem-solving, time management, and financial literacy.

This program is ideal for individuals with passport funding.

Program Length: 4 Weeks

Session Duration: 2 Hours per week every Monday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Cost: $395 + H.S.T. per course or $900.00 + H.S.T. for all three courses

Locations: BramptonOrangeville

New Courses starting in June 2024.

Course Offerings

Independent Living Skills

These courses focus on teaching individuals with disabilities the skills necessary to live independently such as:

  • Personal Hygiene
  • Budgeting and money management
  • Physical activity and nutrition
  • Sleep Hygiene
Social Skills

These courses focus on teaching individuals with disabilities social skills and how to interact with others such as:

  • Communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Assertiveness and self-advocacy
  • Empathy and understanding the feelings of others
  • Building and maintaining healthy relationships
Health and Wellness

This will focus on teaching individuals with disabilities the skills necessary to maintain their physical and emotional health such as:

  • Exercise and physical fitness
  • Nutrition and healthy eating
  • Stress management and relaxation techniques
  • Sleep hygiene
Technology Skills

This will focus on teaching individuals with disabilities how to use technology to improve their daily lives such as:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Assistive technology
  • Internet safety and security
  • Navigating public transit

This program will be delivered through in-person classroom instruction.
